Fury bulks up, adds defender Angel

The Muskegon Fury have signed huge defenseman Brett Angel for the rest of this season.

Angel, 6-foot-6 and 240 pounds, played in Muskegon last season and recorded six assists with 196 penalty minutes in 46 games.

“We are very excited to have Brett in our lineup," said Fury head coach Bruce Ramsay. "He will add a great physical presence to our club, something that we may have lost with the departure of Dean Melanson. His presence on the ice will make everyone stronger and more fearless; that will be a real positive for us.

"In addition, he still maintains his status as a rookie and that is very valuable to us as well. Brett skates especially well and possesses a rocket for a shot. Combine those attributes with his physical play and he will be a big asset for us for the rest of this season.”

Concerning his return for his first action of the season following major knee surgery, Ramsay stated added Angel will be a game time decision for this Friday’s game at home against Elmira.
