Red Wings assign MacDonald to Griffins

The Detroit Red Wings have assigned goalie Joey MacDonald to the Grand Rapids Griffins for a two-week conditioning assignment.

MacDonald appeared in four games for the Wings. He had a 0-2-1 record and 3.67 goals-against average, but had not played since Dec. 2.

He will be available tonight when Grand Rapids hosts Omaha.
