Flint signs Kinnie, drops two forwards

The Flint Generals have signed forward Mike Kinnie for his third stint with the UHL club.

Kinnie, 24, played the 2004-05 season with the Generals, his first season of professional hockey, and registered 81 points on 37 goals and 44 assists in 72 games and finished second in the voting for UHL Rookie of the Year.

Last season, Kinnie played about half the year with Flint. In just 36 games for the Generals, he totaled 47 points on 24 goals and 23 assists.

Before beginning his professional career, the Shelby Township native played three seasons at Ferris State University. In 103 games with Ferris State, Kinnie scored 60 points on 29 goals and 31 assists.

"Mike is a very dangerous offensive player," stated Generals' GM Al Sims. "He should make an impact with our club immediately. We were looking for some help offensively and with Kinnie and the recent additions of Tony Tuzzolino and Terry Marchant, we feel we have one of the better scoring lineups in the UHL."

In other recent transactions, the Generals waived forwards Justin Kinnunen and Marc Norrington.
