NHL defenseman joins K-Wings roster

The Kalamazoo Wings have signed defenseman Chris McAllister.

At 6-foot-7 and 240 pounds, McAllister will bring an intimidating presence to the K-Wings lineup. McAllister joins the K-Wings after spending last season in the AHL with the San Antonio Rampage.

The 31-year-old native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the second round (40th overall) of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft and played 10 seasons in the NHL with Vancouver, Toronto, Philadelphia, Colorado and the New York Rangers

"Chris brings size, strength, and experience to our blue line," said Kalamazoo GM Paul Pickard. "To add a player of his caliber to our already talented defense will only strengthen our defensive corps."

McAllister is joining the stingiest defense in the UHL. The K-Wings lead the league with fewest goals allowed (1) and goals against average (0.50).
